It’s finally cooled down here in BC, with rain falling and temps. back to the moderate range. What bliss! I feel productive again LOL!
And what could be more productive than some time well spent in the kitchen. I’m hoping to have a cooking ”marathon” in the next few days, before the summer heat returns. [...]

And what picnic would be complete without a hearty bean salad?
Here’s a popular recipe from my cookbook: Not Just for Vegetarians featuring a tangy mustard dressing. You can use any type of beans you have on hand instead of the chickpeas. Just remember to include the green or yellow beans for a nice added crunch and color too.

Isn’t this a yummy photo? And the best part, the ”real” thing tasted just as good as this looks.
Joe made one of these luscious carrot cakes for my birthday and YES, I did indulge in a piece and enjoyed every bite. After all, ME month isn’t about total deprivation, ya know. And speaking of ME month, it’s [...]

Chilled to the bone, the frosty sheer air.
Winter again unrelenting, inevitably here.
The stillness of a new untouched morning,
Still ours alone to share.
The trees, a wonderland of beauty,
Boughs lush with white diamonds,
Dreamlike, in a haze of soft gray sky.
A picture,well-worth a thousand words.
Bundled and mittened, we walk on….
Determined, sure-footed,facing the elements.
Brave against the chill.
Your hand in [...]

All together now…..YUMMMMM!!!!!
Wanted to re-visit and share an encore post that I wrote last Thanksgiving Day (the Canadian one in October ) over at my other blog: Veggies, Crafts and Tails. It includes some of my thoughts on Thanksgiving Day and how Joe and I like to commemorate the day. Also, in a more general sense, how I try to be [...]

Another simple pleasure of Autumn. The harvest of tree fruits and root vegetables, now at their flavorful peak. Including of course, crisp and delicious fall apples.
These BC Gala apples are so good to eat fresh or to add to a favorite recipe.
And don’t they make a lovely (albeit photo) still life to behold?
One of my favorite apple recipes from Not [...]
