Haiku Reflections: Late Summer Beauty

late summer haiku

It’s not quite “late” summer but I thought of all the varieties of flowers and plants that bloom at specific times during the summer season, when I wrote the title for this post.

I’m actually looking forward to the fall. The intense heat is just too much for me and it’s been relentless here in BC for the past 2 weeks, over 30C most days and humid. Hopefully, it will cool down soon and more blessed rain will fall. We will never take rain for granted again, will we? The effects of global warming are very real and evident, in this area. 😦

On a happier note, I finally have my haiku photos/poems completed and prints on order, for my haiku journal proposal. I had to really “play” with the text and photo size to get it looking right. Previous prints hadn’t turned out, to my satisfaction.

I’ll keep you posted….here’s hoping!

  1. yep…global warming is a scary reality…

    lovely haiku

Thanks for stopping by my blog few times,,,we appreciate your continued support…April and I plan to update every monday!

  2. I worry about the weather constantly. I can see how much it has changed even in the past five years. I am concerned what state it will be in when my son is my age.

As always, G, a beautiful haiku to soothe my soul. I am in love with the colour of your gorgeous bloom.

That is so exciting about your book. I will keep everything crossed for you!

  3. Ah, you should have been here in the East Bay in the 70’s. I haven’t taken rain for granted practically my whole life. And seeing the non stop building of single family dwellings, it’s just scary.

OTOH, Global Warming does seem to be making our area cooler. It hasn’t lessened the drought any, but it’s been cooler. We’ve only had a few weeks of triple digit weather and not most of the year.

That flower and haiku is lovely.

  4. This is a wonderful poem and image. I am glad your book proposal is done. Your work is very lovely.

  5. What a beautiful photo. Flowers are certainly a visual delight. I also worry about the effects weather is having on earth and it’s inhabitants. We don’t really have summers anymore. It’s more like fall here.

Congrats on your blog award. Your list was a good one. Hope all is well.

  6. Catching up finally (pant pant). Oh this is such a lovely pink with the touches of orange within. It is interesting how the northeast has had such a cool summer, where the northwest has had such a hot one. It’s a reverse. I don’t know why I had it in my head that you were in the British Isles. Now I will have you in the right place! 🙂

  7. Hi Shraddha, And thanks for visiting MPP. Ill be over soon!

Hi Sel, What a sweetie you are! Thanks for your continued support, it means so much. And thanks for the thoughtful comment re: your son and the weather. So many people I talk to are absolutely ignorant re: global warming and long-term consequences. They are scary!!!

Hi Carrie, Nice to “see’ you again. Thanks for sharing this info. re: the Bay Area weather, interesting. And so glad you enjoyed this latest post.

Hi SandyC, Your kind words mean so much. Thanks dear Sandy!
