My Poetic Path

My journey…shared in poems, prose and photos.

Poem for Autumn

Season of splendour.

As Mother Earth gently rests her weary head.

Preparing for the long sleep ahead.

The Stillness:

Harbinger to the winter chill.

But for now…

Nature’s paintbrush is busy.

With brilliant palette of crimson and gold.

The forest ablaze with color.

As the late summer sun still warms the days.

My favourite season.

It’s beauty far surpassing the others.

A magical time of awakenings and endings.

Like no other.

A joy to once again rediscover.

We  are reminded of another year’s passing.

Of changes, inevitable.

Required in all things.

And to everything there is a season,

and a reason we will find,

for all.

It’s loveliness and wonder endures.

It’s arrival.

Always a feast for the senses.

A gilded gift we receive.

To dazzle and delight.

We put away our thoughts.

Of the cold days ahead.

There is so much to enjoy right now.

Inspiring us.

Autumn’s beauty to behold.

PS: I thought this poem was worthy of another encore to celebrate the return of my favorite season.

A popular poem/topic, based on the stats. I guess there are a lot of people who love Autumn as much as I do. 🙂

  3. This is wonderful. So full of peace and an understanding of the promise that life itself offers. I will read the book you suggest, my friend. Thank you.

  4. Excellent poem, Geraldine! That’s the spirit…
Your photo is perfect to illustrate what a busy painter Nature is right now… 🙂

  5. I hope you are all having a wonderful Autumn so far. I will be sharing some new fall photos very soon. I got a whole bunch yesterday, in so many glorious shades!

    Hugs, G 🙂

  6. I love this poem. My favorite line: nature’s paintbrush is busy… Happy autumn. I do love this season too, but I dread what’s coming after autumn. I guess that’s okay, because after that, comes another wonderful season, spring. Hence, the circle of life continues. It gives us something to look forward to. For now, enjoy your favorite season. Can I get your permission to put a link of your blog on mine? Thank you.
