Haiku Reflections: First Robin of Spring

A couple of days ago, I saw a robin! A sure sign of spring I thought, at the time.

But today, woke up to a generous “dump” of snow. 😦  What a surprise!

A “mini” snowstorm arrived overnight, here in Interior BC.

This is a photo from Flickr ’cause the robin I saw was too fast for me to get a photo of. 😉

It was interesting to browse the search term “robin” over at Flickr and see all the types of these birds there are. Here in Canada, it’s usually the black robins that we see, as above.

Hopefully the snow will melt in the next day or so (and for the last time) and more robins will be on the way soon. 🙂

  1. Oh what a handsome bird! We have had a flock of robins hanging around for several weeks now. My yard has scads of worms so I’m sure they’ve been attracted to them. Happy Spring, G.

(We got ice pellets yesterday. Not grackle or corn snow but just ice. It kind of takes the fun outta’ spring….) LOL

  2. That sounds wonderful! We are getting them now, too. The occasional one I have been seeing must have been travels.

    Doesn’t spring feel good?

  3. it is nice to get those signs of spring….esp on this first of spring…lovely bird…and i love your new pic over at the blogspot site….

  4. how wonderful that you have seen a robin. a neighbor said she saw one…. but i was in town that day, ever since it has been snow and rain and not a robin to be seen. Lovely spring to you.

  5. Hi Christine, Weird weather everywhere it seems. A blog pal of mine in Toronto was wearing a t-shirt at work today! It sure wasn’t t-weather here. I’m glad I hadn’t packed up the ‘warm woolies’ just yet. LOL 😉

Hi SandyL, I know spring will feel good, it just has to get here first. It looked like the middle of December today, not March/spring time in the Rockies.

Hi Brian, It certainly is. How is your weather these days?

Hi Tammie, Ahh…some of our weather, over the border. And a lovely spring to you too. It’s on it’s way, sooner or later!

    Happy Week, G 🙂

  6. This is a magical haiku for spring. The first robin is suppose to be a sign of spring and also good luck, I’ve heard that too. Loved this.

  7. been in the 80s all week…how…so maybe you can send me some of that snow to chill out a bit…ha…smiles.

  8. Hi Joe, I think robins (first sightings especially, for the spring season) are rather magical! I’m glad you liked this haiku. The photo and the sighting were both inspiring! 🙂

Hi Brian, Sorry, no can do. It’s back to brown and grey out my window today. All the snow went away. 80’s ahhh…that is way too warm, isn’t it? Global warming gets scarier by the week. 😦

    Happy Mid-Week, G
