Waiting for the First Snow: A Tau-Ku Poem

Waiting for the first snow.

White skies.

A longing: returning each Fall.

***

I snow. Especially the first snowfall of the year.

So fresh, clean and white. So many good memories brought to mind too.

We had so much snow on the Canadian Prairies when I was growing up.

Here in BC, not nearly as much now but still lovely to see, to walk in, to breathe the clean air.

Are you waiting for snow too?

Happy Week! 🙂

  1. Love the photo and the tau ku poem. Hope we get some snow, not much some years here.

  2. This is a beautiful photo and poem. The verse seems to reflect the purity of snow falling. Yes, the first snow is magical, I feel too.
I like the hush in the air, and the clean smells, and the beauty.
Some of my favourite snow experiences are walking at night when it is very still and quiet.
Thanks for your positive take on snow. Sometimes we tend to forget the wonder of it in the middle of winter.

  3. I sure am sweetie and this is so beautiful, like a Christmas card, lovely

  4. Beautiful photo and poem – it really has the promise of snow in it…
I cannot say though that I’m waiting for it. 🙂 I know it’s coming and I love that crisp feeling of first snow, but, then… winter always overstays… 🙂
    xoxoxo

  5. Hi Joe, Looks like some of the white stuff might arrive today. It’s already snowing on the mountains above! 😉

Hi Brenda, What a lovely comment. I know how that feels, walking in the snow, as the sun sets or a bit later…or very early in the morning, while it’s still dark. It’s all magical.

Hi Lorraine, I bet you get lots of snow in Quebec, right?

Hi Vesper, Thanks friend. I love the first part of winter but by Feb. I’m ready for the return to spring. I hear ya!!! 😉

    Happy Week, G 🙂

PS: If you get some snow where you are, do share with some photos, if you can!

  6. So much but since I’m on the fourth floor I don’t think the snow will reach me, like it use to in the house I use to have mountains…but it will be beautiful…that I know

  8. lovely post~
we have had three snowfalls and some more lovely flakes floating through the sky, melting as they land. It almost looks like winter here, still autumn dresses many trees in golds and burgandies

  9. Hi Lorraine, Still no snow here but we certainly have the snow sky today, all white and so still out there. I bet Quebec is gorgeous in the winter!

Hi Brian, I hope that storm on the East coast isn’t as bad as they are predicting. Looked scary on the weather network today. Do you get much snow or any, where you are in VA?

Hi Tammie, I loved your “frosty” pics this past week, so beautiful. Thanks for sharing!

    Happy Weekend, G :<)
