Wonderful, Magical…. Autumn!

Poem for Autumn

Season of splendor.

As Mother Earth gently rests her weary head.

Preparing for the long sleep ahead.

The Stillness:

Harbinger to the winter chill.

But for now…

Nature’s paintbrush is busy.

With brilliant palette of crimson and gold.

The forest ablaze with color.

As the late summer sun still warms the days.

My favorite season.

It’s beauty far surpassing the others.

A magical time of awakenings and endings.

Like no other.

A joy to once again rediscover.

We  are reminded of another year’s passing.

Of changes, inevitable.

Required in all things.

And to everything there is a season,

and a reason we will find,

for all.

It’s loveliness and wonder endures.

It’s arrival.

Always a feast for the senses.

A gilded gift we receive.

To dazzle and delight.

We put away our thoughts.

Of the cold days ahead.

There is so much to enjoy right now.

Inspiring us.

Autumn’s beauty to behold.

My Poetic Path

We are having an absolutely glorious autumn, here in BC. Warm, sunny days with just the hint of a breeze and nice cool evenings.

It’s been so invigorating, especially after the intense temps. this summer.

How I fall!

Seems like it’s the fav season for more and more people now. It’s always been mine.

I hope you enjoy the photo and poem above, celebrating the wonder of this magical time of year.

How is the weather where you are?

Have a wonderful autumn ! 🙂

  1. Very beautiful verses, Geraldine. Good images. I posted an Autumn poem too a few weeks ago, early. 🙂 Its my favorite season and couldn’t wait so used a photo from last year’s fall color shots for it.

  2. Geraldine, I have found summer to be much too short and the thought of winter much too chilling but reading your lovely poem warmed my heart and lessened the dread of winter. 🙂

  3. “A magical time of awakenings and endings.

That’s my favorite part, Geraldine. It got me all excited about my favorite time of the year….FALL 🙂

Like you, we’ve been getting glimpses of fall this past week. The days are sunny and breezy, and our evenings are delightfully cool. Last night I even had to put a T-shirt on because I had the windows open. What I love about this weather is that I sleep so much better at night.

Happy Wednesday, my friend! Enjoy the rest of your week!

  4. Such a lovely poem. Autumn is my favorite season too. And yes, the weather here has been so much better than the heat of summer.

  5. Thanks for your kind words Joyce. It is a fav season for so many people now. 🙂

Ahhh…Carol, you are so nice, you made my day! Thank you.

I knew that fall was your favorite season Ron and I’m so glad you enjoyed my poem. It’s cooler here in BC today but I expect it will warm up on the weekend. Love that sunshine! 🙂

Thanks Joe. Yes, it’s good to put the heat of summer behind us, just toooo hot. 😦

    Have a wonderful weekend, G

  6. Geraldine, I’ve appreciated the real summer we’ve had on the island too. It makes it easier to accept that it’s coming to an end. Fall colors help with the transition. I love your words, “feast for the senses”.

    Blessings ~ Wendy ❀
