Three Haiku Poems on the Cusp of Winter

Pulling up the quilt.

Heavy snow, all through the night.

Winter on the way.

***

A chill in the air.

Wrapping my scarf, one more time.

Snowflakes from the sky.

***

A windy, cold night.

Branches strewn across the path.

Winter on the way.

PS: We had a bit of snow here in Interior BC, the past couple of days, but it’s melting now.

Winter IS on the way though.

Hope you enjoy these three haiku poems, on the cusp of this magical season to come.Β

What is your weather doing? Any snow?

Have a wonderful week! πŸ™‚

  1. Geraldine, both a lovely quote AND photograph! As you know, I LOVE winter so I really eagerly anticipation its arrival and then really enjoy it while it’s here. I’m such a cold weather and snow person.

“We had a bit of snow here in Interior BC, the past couple of days, but it’s melting now.”

OMG…I’m sooooo jealous that you got snow already. For the past two days it’s been in the high 70’s; feeling almost like spring weather. However, tonight the temperature is supposedly dropping to 30’s and staying that way all weekend. Yahooo! We usually don’t get snow though until December.

Have a great rest of your week, my friend!

P.S. And please send me some snow πŸ™‚

  2. We have several inches of new snow here too, Geraldine and very cold temps, in single digits. Winter is already here, down here. πŸ™‚

  3. Geraldine, these are so lovely and the photograph is beautiful! We’ve only had a shattering of snow and a few flurries. But it’s colder than usual here and you just know Old Man Winter is poised to take center stage!

  4. Geraldine, I hate the idea of winter but your poem and photo makes this magical season it attractive and enticing once more. πŸ™‚

  5. The snow came and went very quickly here in BC, Ron. All gone now and a nice sunny day today. πŸ™‚ I love snow but it’s a tad early for it’s arrival I think. I hope you get some soon there in Philly!

Wow, that sounds like winter has really arrived for you Joyce. I hope you like winter! πŸ˜‰

Thanks Kim, a trio of haiku to celebrate the coming of winter. Yes, Old Man Winter, WILL arrive. I’m guessing a lot of snow this year to come.

Thanks Carol and thanks for your blog series on how a number of well-known authors got published, very interesting reading. It was nice to see my old pal Gail Bowen featured at your blog today. We were in an art history/gallery program together many years ago. A lot of fun!

    Have a fabulous weekend, G
