My Poetic Path

My journey…shared in poems, prose and photos.

Word of the Week: Share

A holiday post (see below) from several years ago that came to mind today. From my “word of the week” series.

Christmas 🎄and sharing, they really do go hand in hand.

I feel truly blessed especially this year, to be living on beautiful Vancouver Island in our nice home and area.

As is usually the case , we will once again be helping out at one or more charity lunches. One of my long time Christmas traditions.

What is something you usually share during the holidays? Your time, talents….

My Poetic Path

I’ve always believed that it’s important and meaningful to share my talents, time  and when it’s possible belongings and other resources with people that  I know and also those I have yet to meet. Particularly those in dire need.

At this time of year, that belief is brought to mind on a daily basis. Joe and I plan to help out at various charitable dinners and events during the next few weeks. We also are buying some treats to supply to a local food bank, to distribute at Christmas time.

To share…what does it mean to you?

For me, it’s always brought unexpected and memorable rewards. It’s part of who I am. Having been through some difficult years personally, it’s even more relevant now. ♥

PS: Is there anything better than sharing food and recipes?

Here’s one of mine, a Cranberry Wheatgerm Muffin recipe you might enjoy! 🙂

  1. Sharing is caring, as they say. I try to share without being recognized. When I donate food to the food bank through my church I drop it off when no one is there. Makes me feel good!

  2. That is the way to go Rose. Thanks for sharing those experiences here.😊

I always get so much back in good feelings etc…when I extend myself to help others. It really does create a circle of good energy.

  3. I’m thankful for many things too.

Sharing is so important and it makes me feel good when I do. This season is a good reminder.

  4. PS, Love your new header photo.

  5. I read you beautiful post about sharing and thought that I don’t share much recently. I used to do it a lot and always felt so good about it.

I believe that sharing is about knowing that you are not alone and someone somewhere can understand you.

  6. I agree Joe , sharing is important all year, but even more so at Christmas. There are so many hurting people out there. Even a smile or kind words can make a big difference. It adds up.

I love that snow photo too! We probably won’t have any of the real kind, this year.

I’m sure you are a kind, giving person Kaya. I hope this post inspired you. Thanks for your kind words.😊

    Hugs and Happy Week.❤

  7. Hi Geraldine, how are you? It’s been a long time! I just started a blog on WordPress and remembered you were on here.
Sharing to me is helping anyone in need when I can, I help with the homeless a lot.
It’s wonderful you and Joe do so much to help those in need!

I was reading your book of poetry that I got from you (a while ago) and I was enjoying it very much!

Christmas is soon upon us, hope it will be wonderful for you!

  8. Thanks for stopping by Margie. I hope you enjoy WordPress.😊

  9. Nice post Geraldine – I can’t say i really do anything special anymore during the holidays – family spread out in different states so if i share it’s mostly done on the internet and just my thoughts or art. i need to branch out some, lol I do share with the wildlife here in the mountains. If they come to my yard i make sure there is plenty to eat (feral cats). sounds like such a nice thing you do for charity lunches.

  10. I hope this post has inspired you Sandy.

There is so much need out there. And it is SO rewarding to be “part of the solution”. I miss volunteering so much, when I’m not able to.

  11. So good to see you Geraldine, and happy to hear of your cookbooks and your poetic successes… Nifty!
