These Halcyon Days….

                                warmth of summer sun

                                       butterfly basks in the glow

 breaks free, flies alone

This photo and haiku (the haiku is one I wrote) always bring to mind “halcyon days” for me.

I just ♥  the word: halcyon

The warmth, the calm and tranquil beauty of a butterfly, basking in the sun.
We are currently enjoying “halcyon days” here in BC, sunny and warm fall weather; so beautiful.
Yesterday, I was out and about in a sleeveless dress, late in the afternoon!! That’s a warm October, for here in Canada. 😉

2. A fabled bird, identified with the kingfisher, that was supposed to have had the power to calm the wind and the waves while it nested on the sea during the winter solstice.
adj.
1. Calm and peaceful; tranquil.
2. Prosperous; golden: halcyon years.

The Autumn Leaves (haiku, movie and song) :-)

I ♥ movies from the 40s and 50s!

We were watching a Joan Crawford movie last night: Humoresque (so sad but wonderful) and this haiku and archive post came to mind.

The Autumn Leaves is a song that I often have running through my mind, especially this time of year. As I mention in this post, it was also a Nat King Cole tune, that my beloved Grandma cherished.

And the movie of the same name is also one that I have never forgotten.Quite a “racy” film for its time (1956) and definitely with some disturbing content.

But, if you are a fan of Joan Crawford and/or movies from the 40s/50s like I am, do check this one out.

It also features a young and oh, so handsome Cliff Robertson.  Also starring, Lorne Greene in a role that is far removed from his later, fatherly image at the Ponderosa Ranch in the Bonanza TV Series. 😉 He’s a real naughty boy in this one!

Have a Wonderful Autumn Day and Hope You Are Enjoying Sunshine Where You Are! 🙂

It’s Still Lovely and Warm, Here In BC.

Hello Again and A Summer Haiku :-)

130

I can’t believe it’s almost September, can you? 😉

The summer has just flown by for me.

I’m still busy with some summer commitments and activities but hope to be back to regular blogging in the next couple of weeks.

I hope you have had a wonderful summer so far and it’s not quite over yet, is it?

How has your weather been?

Thankfully, the temps. have finally cooled down, here in BC. It’s been a VERY hot, dry summer with too many forest fires reeking havoc. 😦

See You Soon and Have A Wonderful Week!!! G

Summer has certainly been “in the air” here in BC, in the past couple of weeks.

We reached 34C, one day last week and more warm weather is apparently on the way, very soon.

Right now we are having a bit of a cool spell, with rain and that’s welcome too. 🙂 Takes care of all the dust!

Hope you enjoy these three summer haiku/haiga from the archives, celebrating all things to come. It’s going to be a good summer, I just know it! 😉

Have a Wonderful Week!

Haiku Reflections: A Trio of Haiku Poems to Welcome the New Year!

DSCN2030

First snow of season.

A “Christmas-card” view, beckons.

Digging out the boots.

♥♥

Snowshoes. City park.

Untouched, winter wonderland.

Flash of white rabbit.

♥♥

A new year begins.

Fresh palette, possibilities.

Raise a glass of cheer!

♥♥

I hope your year is off to a great start. 🙂
