Some Glorious Greens and a Chuckle for St. Patrick’s Day!

gg collage

Green. My fav color, in every shade. How I ♥ it!

St. Patrick’s Day is a good day not only to celebrate luck but also, the beauty and wonder of all the “glorious greens” in life. I hope you enjoy the examples above.

I hope today brings lots of luck to you too. 😉

And for a big chuckle, stop by here to see what me and Mr. Cheddar got up to today. 😉

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! 🙂

A Chelsea Morning and Ched! ;-)

mr cheddar orange and teapot

With the sun streaming in through the windows today, the song: “Chelsea Morning”  by Joni Mitchell, once again came to mind. I just looooove that song!

Click the link for the lyrics, if you feel the urge to sing along. 🙂

“There was milk and toast and honey and a bowl of oranges too.”

Here’s a file photo of Mr. Cheddar with only one orange to work with, not the whole bowl, 😉 for a visual to go with the melody!

Do you have a song playing in your mind today too? Do share!

Hope you have a sun-filled weekend!

Friday Funnies! ;-) Week 1

Welcome to:

Friday Funnies!

Week 1

velveeta box

This is a story  (click to watch the news video) that made me LOL this week. I hope it does for you too. 🙂

Apparently, there is a ‘cheesy meltdown’ happening in the U.S., with a rumour of Velveeta shortages looming.

And with the Super Bowl coming up very soon, that means a possible “dipping disaster” of major proportion for Velveeta dip lovers everywhere!

I must be living a sheltered life (at least in terms of football party snack foods) but I didn’t even realize that people ate Velveeta anymore. 😉

This was a staple when I was a kid.

We loved it on :

Grilled cheese sandwiches, in mac and cheese, or a slice/chunk, straight from the box.

And always cut with the Kraft wire cutter that we got free, from sending in box tops. Anyone remember those???

Not to offend any Velveeta fans, but this is IMO, one strange “food” and far from any cheese that I’m familiar with now. I still remember that strange, rubbery texture and unique flavor. 😉

But apparently, there is a whole new generation of Velveeta lovers who are seriously addicted to this Kraft classic.

Who’d a thunk it?

Goes to show, with enough hype and thanks to Facebook etc. anything can be sold and in HUGE quantities too. 😉

Friday Funnies! What Do You Think? ;-)

jan 13 004

As many of you already know, I hosted a prompt blog: Woven Dreams, during 2013. I gave it up after a few months,  as I just didn’t have time to keep up with a fourth blog.

But since that time, I’ve had quite a few readers/participants mention that they miss the prompts we shared over at Woven Dreams. It got me thinking about what I could do for another prompt series, without actually having another blog.

Here goes:

I’m considering having a Friday prompt series, here at My Poetic Path called:

Friday Funnies!

I’d be keeping it simple (and cost free- no Mr. Linky) this time.

Participants would share something funny at their blog:

A photo, joke, limerick, short story, quote, sketch…

and would leave a link to their post in a comment here at My Poetic Path.

Easy peasy and not too time-consuming for me either. As you all know, hosting a blog can take up quite a bit of time. 😉

What do you think?

Would you be interested in participating at Friday Funnies! if I went ahead with this prompt series idea?

If  there is enough interest from readers and I do decide to go ahead with Friday Funnies! it will be starting very soon, so check back if you’d like to participate.

We can all use more laughs, right?

And what better time to share and enjoy them, than the start of a new year. 🙂

In the meantime, I hope that this photo of:  Mr. Cheddar and his fab sock monkey pal, JJ brings a big smile your day! 😉

Laughter Really is Good Medicine ;-)

dogs reading

How’s this for a reading group? LOL!!!

Can we ever have enough laughter in our lives?

Probably not.

Laughter not only makes us happy and makes us smile, it is also very good for us, health wise.
Many years ago when I was recovering from burn-out syndrome/ chronic fatigue syndrome caused by too much: worry, work, chronic stress…that eventually robbed me of my good health for almost 2 years, I read many stories about the healing powers of laughter.
I spent a lot of time on the sofa during that time of recovery. I wasn’t able to do much as my nervous system was virtually in tatters. Resting and re-thinking how I had been living to have ended up so weak and so ill.
I tried to read mainly inspiring and healing stories/ books about real people who had been through illnesses caused by stress who had recovered and lived to tell the tale. The story of Norman Cousins and his remarkable recovery from a life-threatening tissue disease described in his book:
is a story that has always stayed with me. Cousins and his doctors believed that his recovery was due in large part to daily doses of lots of laughs, watching Marx Brother’s movies where as drugs and other treatments had had little or no effect for weeks. Cousins had actually been getting worse as time had been going by in the hospital, until he added the funny movies to his daily routine.  If you’ve never read his story, it is definitely worth the time.

I also recently found this interesting site that lists many of the health benefits of laughter.

When I’m having a bad, sad or mad day… a good laugh (or even better, lots of them) can go a long way towards turning things around and helping me to relax and reassess things. I love watching funny movies like: Take the Money and Run with Woody Allen and Back to School with Rodney Dangerfield, two of my all-time favorite, classic LOL movies.
***
If you have a funny movie, book, DVD…to share, please do.

Here’s to a year filled with lots of laughter. It truly is good medicine, for so many reasons! 😉

Happy 2014!

PS: This post is one I shared at my “Take a Happy Break” blog, a long while ago. I no longer post there but thought this was a good way to “kick off” the new blogging year, here at My Poetic Path.
My apologies for a bit of wonky spacing above. WP does NOT like copy and paste, it seems!!!
