The Summer Wind…

“…came blowing in. From across the sea.”

The Summer Wind

(click to listen)

performed by Frank Sinatra.

How I love that tune, especially how ‘old blue eyes’ sings it! 😉

Not all that timely, considering it’s fall but that song keeps playing in my mind today, as I work on my new haiku book.

The Summer Wind is part of a line, for one of the poems in this new collection.

And this “windy” haiku also came to mind:

hunch brought to mind

Do you have a song playing in your head today? Do share. 🙂

Happy Weekend to All!

A Tanka Moment: Summer, In Full Bloom

I haven’t written a tanka poem for a while.

If you aren’t familiar with this form of poetry, tanka uses a : 5/7/5/7/7 syllable structure.

I enjoy these as they are a bit of a challenge.

Hope you enjoy this summer tanka too!

Also submitted for :  dVerse Poets. Thanks Brian. 🙂

Sky Scanning: A Tau-Ku Poem

Thought it would be fun to try another Tau-Ku poem.

You can read more about this form of poetry here.

It’s a bit cooler here today but it’s been so hot for the past couple of weeks.

I’m running on hardly any sleep. Even with a big ceiling fan, I’m up for hours at night.😦

I’ve been doing quite a bit of sky-scanning, at the end of each day. My inspiration for this post.

Happy Weekend.🙂

Haiku Reflections: Beach Dreams

I saw this beautiful shell photo over at Sandy Carlson’s blog a while back.

It made me think about the upcoming summer and how the beach is one of the best places to enjoy it.

Thanks Sandy, for the inspiring photo and for allowing me to use it here.

The haiku poem above is one of 120 I am including in my haiku book; that I am currently working on. Celebrating the wonder of the four seasons.

Happy Weekend and Happy Beach Dreams too! 🙂

PS: Thanks to everyone who sent along their best/healing wishes, since my eye injury last Friday. Most appreciated. My eye is almost back to normal now. It was a frightening experience, I blogged about it over at Happy Break.

A Tanka Moment: Summer Wishes, Winter Dreams

I had a mini trip down memory lane a couple of weeks ago, when I gazed up through the leaves of this beautiful tree.

The brilliant green and warm sunlight streaming through the branches, brought some very happy thoughts to mind. We spent many hours as kids looking up through the trees, day-dreaming and making wishes on stars at the end of the day.

I never forgot the name of this movie either: Summer Wishes, Winter Dreams starring the lovely and talented Joanne Woodward, from the 1970’s.

Here’s to all your summer wishes and winter dreams, coming true! 🙂
