From Hot and Smokey Alberta….

It has been a challenging few weeks, during our first (early) summer, here in Northern Alberta.

The forest fires continue to rage in all areas of the province. We have been told by many of the long-time locals that this is highly unusual and not the typical start to an Alberta summer. Good to hear, but doesn’t lessen the financial, environmental and mental impact this has had on everyone living here. And definitely not what we had hoped for, when making this move earlier in the winter.

We are not in any immediate danger right now, but the threat is always there. The smoke and being stuck indoors to avoid (some) of the toxic air is the worst part. Hopefully rain is on the way and LOTS of it!

I’m trying to stay busy and to look forward to better days and weather.

In the meantime, hope you enjoy the haiku and photo above. This one always makes me feel just a little bit COOLER!!!

Take care, stay safe and Happy Summer!
