when life is overwhelming
waves of heartaches and obstacles
litter the long path ahead
just, be still
hold on
listen to the small but resonant voice
the way to inner calm
and clarity regained
take the time
close the door
the noise and
muddled voices
will still be there
upon your return
it is never the wrong time
to heed this unfailing truth
nurtured and safely stowed
unscathed by wayward directions
our soul reclaimed
free and fearless spirit
on the darkest of days
it waits patiently
always and faithfully, there
perhaps hard to find
when life’s interventions
tempt us to ignore at our peril
the answer, waiting
but without a doubt
always there
be still

The other day I was in a book store in the city and I had a look in the poetry section. There was one called ‘Inspirational Poems For Modern Living’ by a selection of poets I hadn’t heard of. I have to say that not one of them came close to capturing the feeling and tone that you do in your work. We’ve got to get you published, G. The world needs you in these gloomy times!!!

When one is still, you begin to notice all that is around you. The simple beauty in simple things.

This is gorgeous Geraldine, and so true. I also love the way the poem looks, the shape of it on the page. It looks like a stone going into a pond, and finding stillness at the bottom.

Powerful truth for me. I just recently blogged about how sometimes I need the WORLD to go still for me so I can get clarity and then act. I call it getting out of the game so I can get back in it. 😉
You know, you do your own lulling with those words there… 😀
