A Tanka Moment: Summer Wishes, Winter Dreams

I had a mini trip down memory lane a couple of weeks ago, when I gazed up through the leaves of this beautiful tree.

The brilliant green and warm sunlight streaming through the branches, brought some very happy thoughts to mind. We spent many hours as kids looking up through the trees, day-dreaming and making wishes on stars at the end of the day.

I never forgot the name of this movie either: Summer Wishes, Winter Dreams starring the lovely and talented Joanne Woodward, from the 1970’s.

Here’s to all your summer wishes and winter dreams, coming true! 🙂

  1. This is very lovely. I remember lying under the trees as a kid too, making wishes and day-dreaming. Great memories.

  2. Hey, I still do it! This is a pretty tank, Geraldine, in both words and photo.

  3. I really like this, Geraldine. What I like is how you’ve identified the difference in our perceptions from one season to another. I think we do dream in winter and make wishes in summer. It seems to be the way of things. Beautiful.

  4. Loved it!

    Margie 🙂

  5. Hi Joe, Great memories indeed! And we were in the same city gazing up at the Prairie sky. Different trees though. 😉

Hi SandyL, A good plan, I like it! I’ll have to get back to sky-gazing, thanks Sandy.

Hi Selma, I always remembered the name of this movie, I loved it then, I still do. And it is true, isn’t it? A good movie if you like Johanne Woodward’s work btw. I checked on Wikipedia about her, she is still a busy woman these days. And not so many years ago, she got her degree!!! How’s that for coincidence, after my recent post over at Happy Break about going back to school!!!

Hi Margie, Thanks Margie, I’m so glad you did.

    Happy Sky Gazing, G :<)

  6. I didn’t know Joanne Woodward had gone back to get her degree. Good for her. You two are on the same wavelength right now. I haven’t seen the movie but I’ll try and catch it on one of the old movies channels on cable. I like Joanne Woodward – she’s a great actress!
