I’m still learning all the functions and possibilities, using my Kindle and yesterday I tried sending my first PDF to my Kindle, from a file on my computer.
I read at several sites that PDF’s don’t show up in a very pleasing/readable format on Kindle but I kept reading and finally found the answer over at Amazon how to rectify this problem.
In case you’re also a newbie to all things Kindle, here’s the easy steps to send a PDF to your Kindle, in a suitable print format:
-Choose the file you want to send and right click. Choose “send to” and pick: mail recipient.
-Then send using your Kindle assigned email address, adding “convert” in the subject line.
-Click send and wait a bit (took about 5 minutes to go through here, that can vary) and voila: a PDF sent to your Kindle that you can actually read!
-Make sure to include the email addresses you want to receive documents, etc …from, on your “Manage Your Kindle” page at Amazon, in the list of approved email addresses. I hadn’t done that the first time and it didn’t work. Easy to add as many email addresses as you like though.
I find it’s often the case of not being able to find an answer easily or on the first search, when it comes to techie things; not that it’s actually something that’s hard to do, as was the case with this issue.

ah you are further along than i…have yet to make the jump to ereader….there is just something about a book to me….maybe one day…smiles.

I haven’t attempted to send a PDF but thanks for the information in case I do. So far I’ve sent my work in document form, making sure (mostly) that I have page breaks etc. Nobody’s work on Kindle is as good as in a printed book but I guess we can’t have it all ways.

I’m very tempted but also quite reluctant. I’ve read your Kindle review at your other site. And the knit cover is great! 🙂
I love “real” books but I also love trees… One of the drawbacks that I see with an ereader is that it would be too easy to stock up on books that you might never read. (I’ve done that with my Kindle for PC!) At least, with paper books, you can see them, feel them, dust them ( 🙂 ) and if they are too many you’ll know when to stop buyin them. 🙂

Hi Val, I really like the convenience of having books, docs…stored all in one compact little pkg. 😉 I agree about print books but there’s definitely pluses for both.
Hi Vesper, You made me laugh dear Vesper! I’ve dusted a lot of books and bookshelves over the years too. As I said above, I think there’s pluses for having a Kindle and print books too. If I had to pick one though, the print type would still win out!

That was smart of you to figure this out. It’s true, a lot of times it’s just hard to find an answer for tech issues, not that it’s actually something that’s hard to do. I love Kindle too.
